Tony and I had an amazing weekend in Zurich.  We hung out with friends on both Friday and Saturday night.  Each place we went was new to us and amazingly fun.  And of course, included cocktails.  Everything is better with cocktails.

Our temporary apartment is right next to the English Catholic Church, which is wonderful because we like to try and go to church as often as we can.  After a night of the above, however, we don’t always get around to making it.  Lucky for us, the church bells are more than happy to remind us and lay on the Catholic guilt thick.

The bells ting every 15 minutes and then on the hour.  It tings lightly, once at :15, twice at :30, three times at :45 and then bongs up to 12 times to mark the hour.  It’s actually a fun and nifty way to keep track of the time.  But every Sunday morning, right at 9:15am, the bells decide to go into an epileptic fit for 15 minutes.

Even on Sunday mornings that I DON’T wake up with a hangover, I hate these bells.  Given our proximity to the church, there is no way to remain sleeping, and on mornings with a hangover?  I about want to jump off a bridge into Lake Zurich.

I tried recording some of it one morning, and while the sound quality doesn’t do the volume justice, you can at least get a taste of what goes on for 15 minutes.  It makes me thankful that we are moving into our new place on Friday.
