I have come to the conclusion that there is something about the month of May the Swiss love. I don’t know what it is, but this is the month with the most amount of holidays each year. I am on my 3rd or 4th one today and I never thought I would wish to be in the office!
Don’t get me wrong, I am certainly not complaining, but I feel as though I can’t get anything done this month, and there is much to do! In America, if you have a holiday, you can still get many things done, like shopping or errands, or whatever. But in Switzerland, for example, if we want to go grocery shopping on this holiday, we would have to head to the train station, as the regular stores are closed. And it’s not like we can finalize our immigration paperwork because those offices are closed today too.
But really, I should just shut up and be grateful for these days off. Apparently the movie theaters are still open so Tony and I are going to try to see a movie – this would be our second attempt, let’s hope it works better than the first time.
Also, on holidays you can lay around and watch bad TV, that’s always a plus. By next May I will be begging for days like this off and will be able to better plan trips around them. Who knows, maybe I can even take the whole month and go scuba diving in Australia or hang gliding in South Africa….no, actually, that sounds like too much physical activity for me.
Regardless, even on days that I actually want to be in the office, I can at least turn to Madonna to help knock some sense into me.
