A Murse Situation

My husband, Tony, is in banking, so whenever we travel somewhere new that has a different currency, he takes the time to examine it. He is very interested in what everything is worth in comparison to the US dollar and how a country prints their money. Proof of this is that he has 5 different currencies in his wallet, which I am trying to convince him to convert into francs so that I can buy some shoes.

Anyway, one of the things about the Swiss Franc that blew his mind is that they have a 5 franc coin. He was amazed by this for two reasons:

  1. He had never seen a 5 dollar/franc/pound, etc. coin before, so he felt just like an anthropologist making a discovery.
  2. He was concerned he would now have to buy and regularly carry a murse.

For those of you that don’t know, a murse is a man purse, and some men can get made fun of for the type of murse they choose to carry. In Tony’s situation, a former 3-sport athlete, the very concept of carrying one causes him to sweat a little. At least for me, the murse concept now makes more sense.

I reminded him that we are in Europe and murses’ are cool. Where else is he supposed to keep all these new coins? We will see how this pans out…
