This August I turned 31 (OMG!). It still sounds weird saying it, writing it, etc. I look in the mirror and sometimes still see my 7-year-old self crying about a loose tooth. My mom can tell you all about that.
Anyway, it was my first birthday here in Zurich, away from the friends and family that have become common to see on this day. I have been very blessed to find some amazing friends here thus far and they were what helped to make this birthday so special.
Tony and I returned from Croatia the night before and so on the day of (a Monday) I just wanted to have some friends over and eat Tony’s delicious tacos. He had gotten so good at making them taste like home that I wanted my new friends to have a taste.
Everyone arrived and we drank and chatted and laughed the night away. Right before everyone left, however, my husband and new friends presented me with some of the most thoughtful birthday gifts. From Tony, a beautiful Swarovski necklace and from my friends, a great Swarovski ring. I was so touched I burst into tears and hugged each of them. I never thought I would find such a great, close circle of amazing friends. Switzerland has really exceeded all of my expectations thus far and my birthday was no exception.
Thank you to all of my very dear friends (you know who you are) – I know we will be friends for life.
